On 26th Jan, 2012 SIA organized a school function to mark the eventful day.

This year, the program began ceremoniously with the unfurling of the National Tricolour by our Principal, Mrs. K. Jolly, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. On this day it was felt, one should prize education for itself, and not for any ultimate benefit which may result from it. The Principal in her address stressed and emphasized on the Board students to wholeheartedly devote themselves for the forthcoming Examination.

Finally the program ended with high tea for all. The staff and the students greeted each other on this special day.

Cake cutting ceremony, followed by refreshments marked the beginning of the farewell entertainment program conducted by the class XI students. The program revolved around the theme “Glamour World”. The adieu party traversing song and dance sequences, a fashion show, a question answer round and a few games show culminated with the selection of students for the highly prestigious Shigally titles that were duly conferred to all deserving Shigallians, by our school Director Mrs. Manraj Pallan accompanied by the Principal Mrs. K. Jolly. Deep appreciation for the class XI girls for their extra ordinarily thoughtful and caring attitude towards organizing the carefully planned farewell get together, not only for the outgoing class XII students but the entire Shigallian family. The beautiful angels like young ladies were crowned with titles reflecting the traits of their personality.

Name Title

Rnusha Sheoran Miss SIA (Hillary Clinton of Shigally)

Payal Bajaj 1st Runner Up (Sun Shine of Shigally)

Ragini Kedia 2nd Runner Up (Happy Go Lucky)

At the conclusion of the program our much fondly admired Director Mrs. Manraj Pallan enlightened the audience with her perennial thoughts on how precious Shigallians are and what they mean to her. To further encourage and inspire the Board students, our school Principal Mrs. K. Jolly gave a motivational talk on getting fully focused for the forth coming Board exams and value every minute which is drawing them nearer to it. A lavish dinner was served for all. It was felt by everyone present that never ever in the decade old history of shigally a farewell party of this nature was conducted. It was simply ‘awesome’ in true letter and spirit.

The Shigally Hill International Academy once more carried out with full camaraderie its ninth founders day function amid elaborate arrangements that astonished everyone, including its own founding members who have translated into reality their adept vision for a school that is international in its true spirit and ideology and matches par excellence the students requirement and parents ambitions with the needs of this info- revolutionary era.

The Uttarakhand D.G.P (vigilance) Mr. Satyavrat, an IPS officer of the 1976 batch was the chief guest for the occasion, who graced the inaugural function on the 10th of December 2011, First on the itinerary was a presentation by students on “My Earth My Life”. The purpose of the presentation was to create a greater awareness among all about this beautiful living planet and value of protecting from its degradation. It was understood with utmost ease by each and all and much appreciated too.

Next on the itinerary was staged the world wide renowned ‘Forever Tagore’ – the personal collection of Tagore’s songs from ‘Gitanjali’. The whole concept development and choreography was by Mrs. Sharmila Bhadri an ace Oddissi dancer of National and International repute. The masterpiece dance performance left the audience mesmerized with its special effects. This was an absolute remarkable and awesome performance by the very young girls of SIA. Another major attraction for all the Shigallians parents and staff was the launching of the Annual Magazine, ‘The Shigallian’. It was released by the chief guest of honour Mr. Satyavrat. Being an international School in letter and spirit, two folk dances of Thailand and Nepal were staged by students from these countries to represent the global spirit the School stands for.

Next was a presentation by class twelve students on ‘peace and harmony’. The young girls tirelessly worked to spread awareness among people on pressing issues like domestic violence, corruption, poverty, terrorism and riots, and voiced their innocent desire for peace and harmony in the universe. This was followed by a choir song reflecting the same message titled ‘heal the world’. Finally, the much awaited moment arrived when the school principal / Director Mrs. Manraj Pallan addressed the audience and shared her views on issues related with quality education and how she strongly believes that the spectrum of the curriculum with its depth and range, can be beneficial to the students towards their holistic development only if it is made vibrant and functional which is what the school is always aspiring towards.

The whole environment turned festive as this was also the day for the Shigallians to go for their much awaited winter break ‘Happy holidays greetings were floating in the clean air of Shigally Hill International Academy.

Mr. P.S Kalra (Principal-Guru Nanak Academy, Dehradun ) was the Chief Guest. It was a bright and lovely day, which began with the torch bearers who enkindled the Olympic flame. The School Ground was swarming with students smartly dressed in their March Past attire. The marching squads lined up for the opening March Past led by two well bred majestic horses from Ireland trotting in perfect harmony with the beat of the renowned Indian Army band. The various events held were 100m, 200m, 400m, relay, Lemon and spoon race, Sack race. This year we had a new event titled “Zumba” for which we are thankful to Ms. Vineeta Babra. It is a “feel happy” work out, easy to follow dance steps to the tune of Latin and International music.

The closing march past ended the events. The Chief Guest and a few overseas parents of the students gave away the prizes to the winners. After the prize distribution ceremony the Chief Guest gave an inspiring speech on the importance of sports in a student life and other enlightening thoughts. The day ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Mrs. Manraj Pallan followed by lunch for all the students, parents, invitees and guests.

Don’t forget to check out the Sports Day photos in the Photo Gallery section.

The spirit of healthy competition for wholesome success and character building is what the school management aims to inculcate among its prized Shigallians. Squeezing time from the daily hectic but balanced curriculum, students under the guidance of the prefect body and staff staged amazingly engrossing play performances in the exquisite school auditorium. The four Houses named on the green campus trees- Amaltas, Deodar, Gulmohar and Rudraksh illuminated the audience with the sparkles of their unmatched talent. The four plays were titled- Merchant of Venice, Refund, Marriage Proposal and Orderly world of Mr. Strange.
