Founders Day 2011

The Shigally Hill International Academy once more carried out with full camaraderie its ninth founders day function amid elaborate arrangements that astonished everyone, including its own founding members who have translated into reality their adept vision for a school that is international in its true spirit and ideology and matches par excellence the students requirement and parents ambitions with the needs of this info- revolutionary era.

The Uttarakhand D.G.P (vigilance) Mr. Satyavrat, an IPS officer of the 1976 batch was the chief guest for the occasion, who graced the inaugural function on the 10th of December 2011, First on the itinerary was a presentation by students on “My Earth My Life”. The purpose of the presentation was to create a greater awareness among all about this beautiful living planet and value of protecting from its degradation. It was understood with utmost ease by each and all and much appreciated too.

Next on the itinerary was staged the world wide renowned ‘Forever Tagore’ – the personal collection of Tagore’s songs from ‘Gitanjali’. The whole concept development and choreography was by Mrs. Sharmila Bhadri an ace Oddissi dancer of National and International repute. The masterpiece dance performance left the audience mesmerized with its special effects. This was an absolute remarkable and awesome performance by the very young girls of SIA. Another major attraction for all the Shigallians parents and staff was the launching of the Annual Magazine, ‘The Shigallian’. It was released by the chief guest of honour Mr. Satyavrat. Being an international School in letter and spirit, two folk dances of Thailand and Nepal were staged by students from these countries to represent the global spirit the School stands for.

Next was a presentation by class twelve students on ‘peace and harmony’. The young girls tirelessly worked to spread awareness among people on pressing issues like domestic violence, corruption, poverty, terrorism and riots, and voiced their innocent desire for peace and harmony in the universe. This was followed by a choir song reflecting the same message titled ‘heal the world’. Finally, the much awaited moment arrived when the school principal / Director Mrs. Manraj Pallan addressed the audience and shared her views on issues related with quality education and how she strongly believes that the spectrum of the curriculum with its depth and range, can be beneficial to the students towards their holistic development only if it is made vibrant and functional which is what the school is always aspiring towards.

The whole environment turned festive as this was also the day for the Shigallians to go for their much awaited winter break ‘Happy holidays greetings were floating in the clean air of Shigally Hill International Academy.
